Staff Design Engineer

Overview

Lead the transformation of Mixpanel’s design system into infrastructure for AI-assisted design and development. Combine strong design sensibility with production front-end engineering to connect design, code, prototyping, and AI workflows.

What you'll do

• Build tokens, components, documentation, and guidelines for AI-assisted workflows.
• Reimagine product experiences for conversational, agentic, and adaptive interfaces.
• Keep design and code in sync through shared systems and production pull requests.
• Build high-fidelity prototyping workflows for designers and product managers.
• Develop AI-powered tools that improve design-engineering handoffs.
• Set craft standards through the quality of shipped work.

What you'll need

• 8+ years in design engineering, UX engineering, design technology, or a related hybrid role.
• Proficiency in React, TypeScript, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and Next.js.
• Experience building or working with design systems.
• Strong design sensibility focused on craft, consistency, and interaction quality.
• Fluency with AI-assisted workflows, prototyping tools, and MCP integrations.
• Experience with Figma, Storybook, VSCode, Chromatic, and GitHub.
• Experience working across design and engineering with high autonomy.

Nice to have

• Experience designing or building data visualizations.
• Background in brand or product design.
• Experience with accessibility standards and accessible data visualization.
• Experience in product analytics or developer-focused products.

• Remote role based in San Francisco, United States.
• Total target cash compensation is USD 236,000–300,000 yearly.
