Staff Enterprise Architect

Overview

Design and evolve GitLab’s internal enterprise systems across business, application, data, and technology architecture. The role focuses on detailed architecture designs, complex technical problems, AI-enabled processes, and influencing engineering teams without people management.

What you'll do

• Architect end-to-end processes spanning CRM, ERP, CPQ, billing, customer service, and financial systems.
• Produce target-state architectures, decision records, reference patterns, and high-level designs.
• Design integrations, data flows, APIs, event-driven patterns, pipelines, and reverse ETL.
• Review application changes, data models, third-party packages, and platform health.
• Define AI agent access, permissions, evaluation, guardrails, and governance boundaries.
• Resolve complex technical and production problems through proofs of concept and root-cause analysis.
• Drive technical-debt remediation and architectural change through influence.

What you'll need

• Deep expertise in application and data architecture.
• Hands-on experience with integration, automation, and applied AI.
• Experience with ERP, CRM, CPQ, billing, financial, and customer service platforms.
• Expertise in data modeling, integration patterns, and enterprise API design.
• Practical experience with data warehouses and ELT, ETL, and reverse ETL pipelines.
• Depth in iPaaS tooling and production integration operations.
• Experience driving architecture through influence and communicating trade-offs to senior stakeholders.

• Remote role in the United States.
• Base salary: $168,000–$285,600 USD yearly.
