Staff Software Engineer

Overview

Staff Software Engineer for an AI/ML platform team, focused on building and optimizing machine-learning pipelines, data infrastructure, and MLOps platforms.

What you'll do

• Lead projects or systems and coordinate other engineers.
• Define technical tasks for engineers on the project or system.
• Design and optimize machine-learning platforms and data infrastructure.
• Build solutions across the end-to-end machine-learning lifecycle.
• Improve engineering structures, processes, and standards.
• Reconcile competing priorities to identify optimal solutions.
• Represent PayPal in interactions with partners, customers, or industry organizations.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong proficiency in machine-learning concepts, algorithms, and techniques.
• Experience developing and deploying machine-learning models.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java and ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Experience with cloud platforms and containerization technologies.
• Strong communication, leadership, mentoring, and influencing skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Jupyter Notebook, Kubeflow, Airflow, Argo, GPU, or HPC.
• Experience building ML infrastructure, MLOps platforms, or big-data platforms.
• Experience with Hadoop, BigQuery, Spark, Hive, or HDFS.

• Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
• Hybrid work model with three days in the office and two days at the office or home workspace for the majority of employees.
