Staff Software Engineer, Billing Platform

Overview

Staff Software Engineer for Anthropic’s Billing Platform, building end-to-end billing and payments infrastructure that converts product usage into trustworthy revenue.

What you’ll do

• Design and ship billing capabilities end to end, including pricing, payments flows, contracts, and revenue data pipelines.
• Build for correctness across billing data where idempotency, reconciliation, and audit trails matter.
• Own billing interfaces such as a billing API and revenue datasets used for closing the books.
• Make build-vs-buy decisions for third-party billing, payment, and tax platforms.
• Own the payments stack, including authorization/retry logic, dispute response, and fraud controls.
• Reduce manual work in enterprise contract amendments, pricing config changes, and billing escalations.
• Operate released flows by owning SLOs and instrumenting the revenue pipeline to surface discrepancies before month-end close.

What you’ll need

• 8+ years building backend or platform systems in production.
• 3+ years leading large scale, complex projects or teams as an engineer or tech lead.
• A track record of shipping in fast-moving environments with shifting requirements while delivering correct, maintainable systems.
• Strong focus on correctness and data integrity as first-class design concerns.
• Experience working cross-functionally where billing connects Product, Finance, Sales, and Legal.
