Staff Software Engineer - Machine Learning

Overview

Staff Software Engineer focused on Machine Learning for the Smart Agents group, building ML/RL models and systems to simulate road users for AV testing and training.

What you'll do

• Develop ML and reinforcement learning (RL) models, including training loop development and optimization.
• Streamline integration and create ML infrastructure for production model deployment.
• Build metrics and data pipelines to support rapid experimentation.
• Apply software engineering expertise while working with an ML team.
• Support project timeline acceleration for Autopilot, Lane Keep, and AV technologies.

What you'll need

• 4+ years of experience in robotics or latency-sensitive backend services.
• Working background with machine learning teams, algorithms, and models.
• Strong programming skills in modern C++ or Python.
• Proven experience in machine learning and classification.
• Familiarity with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Ability to set architectures that are scalable, efficient, fault-tolerant, and extensible.

Details

• Work mode described as hybrid; expected to report to a location at least 3 times a week.
• Remote role with in-person reporting expected if living within a 50-mile radius of Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren, Milford, or Mountain View.
