Staff+ Software Engineer, Safeguards Infrastructure

Overview

Staff+ Software Engineer on the Safeguards Infrastructure team, building foundational systems for safety, oversight, and intervention mechanisms for AI models.

What you'll do

• Develop foundational Safeguards systems including data storage and management infrastructure.
• Build metric and evaluation systems and tooling for human and agentic review.
• Run Safeguards systems day-to-day and maintain a high operational bar.
• Reduce the amount of human intervention needed while serving safety and customers.
• Build robust, multi-layered defenses to improve real-time safety mechanisms at scale.
• Monitor models to help prevent misuse and disallowed use.

What you'll need

• Have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or comparable professional experience.
• Be proficient in Python.
• Be able to work across the stack.
• Have strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Details

• Hybrid location policy: expected to be in an office at least 25% of the time.
