Overview
Staff Software Engineer (Salesforce) who turns solution designs into production-quality software, increasingly by specifying, directing and verifying AI-generated code, delivering features that power Illumina's Commercial and Services organizations on the Salesforce platform.
What you'll do
- Write production-quality Apex: classes, triggers, batch processes, queueable jobs and scheduled Apex, following the team's architectural patterns and coding standards.
- Build Lightning Web Components, including wire services, imperative Apex calls, event handling and Lightning Message Service, following SLDS and accessibility standards.
- Design and build Flows: record-triggered, screen, scheduled and autolaunched; decide when to use declarative automation versus Apex.
- Implement integrations: REST/SOAP API callouts, Platform Events, Change Data Capture and named credentials, with error handling, retry logic and logging; work with middleware where required.
- Implement Agentforce solutions: custom Apex actions for agents, Prompt Builder templates, Agent Script for deterministic control, and Trust Layer guardrails as directed by solution designs.
- Implement Data Cloud (Data 360) configurations: data streams, data model objects, identity resolution, calculated insights and activations, based on solution designs.
- Configure Salesforce platform features: objects, fields, validation rules, page layouts, permission sets and sharing rules as part of feature delivery.
- Work in spec-driven, agentic workflows: write specifications and acceptance criteria, delegate first-pass implementation to AI coding assistants, then review, test and own the result.
- Write comprehensive unit tests for all Apex code, covering positive, negative and bulk scenarios, using test data factories and mocking.
- Participate in code reviews as reviewer and contributor; deploy using the team's CI/CD pipeline (AutoRabit, DevOps Center, Salesforce CLI) and Git/GitHub.
- Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies, collaborating with Solution Architects, Technical Architects, Test Automation Engineers and Product Owners.
- Support production issues, incident response and post-incident reviews.
