Substation Secondary Design Engineer - Bay Control and Protection

Overview

Support Protection and Control engineering execution as an individual contributor on the GA Secondary team. Create electrical circuit diagrams and supporting documents for medium/high-voltage substations using AutoCAD Electrical, coordinating with colleagues, counterpart teams and other departments when required.

What you'll do

• Prepare Single Line Diagrams and Protection Single Line Diagrams.
• Prepare panel layouts and BOMs.
• Prepare Protection and Control panel schematics for medium/high-voltage substations.
• Prepare junction boxes for CT, VT and density monitors, and perform AC/DC load calculations.
• Prepare trip matrices and IO signal lists.
• Prepare interlocking tables and schematics for various busbar configurations.
• Address technical queries raised by customers during project execution, if required.
• Interact with Primary, Project Management and Production teams when required.
• Self-review documents before submitting them to the Lead Engineer.
• Generate preliminary BOMs by understanding the importance and consequences of releasing them.
• Prepare mimic boards in line with SLD and layout drawings.
• Understand and prepare communication architecture diagrams.
• Prepare protection schematics for transformer, line and busbar applications when protection is integrated in LCC.
• Select Bay Control Units and other protection IEDs.
• Prepare complete Digital Control & Protection drawings as part of Digital Substation projects, including NCITs, MUs and SAM600 modules.
• Adhere to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.
• Take responsibility for own actions while caring for colleagues and the business.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in B.E. or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• 5 -8 years of experience.
• Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical tools.
• Very Good knowledge of Protection & Control Systems for T & D / Gen.
• Ability to work in a team and maintain professionalism.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.

Nice to have

• Relay configuration and testing is an added advantage.
