Overview
Supplier Engineer (Welding) responsible for developing, qualifying, and continuously improving welding and fabrication processes across the supplier base for precision welded semiconductor equipment assemblies.
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain supplier quality assurance processes for welded components and assemblies.
- Review and approve supplier welding procedures for compliance with AWS, ASME, and customer requirements.
- Lead supplier onboarding, capability assessments, and technical audits for welding and fabrication.
- Resolve weldability and reliability issues through cross-functional collaboration and incident management.
- Perform root cause analysis and validate corrective actions to closure using structured methods.
- Analyze supplier quality data with SPC, Pareto analysis, and capability studies, then report findings.
- Support continuous improvement activities (FMEA, control plans, MSA) and review NPI first-article submissions for manufacturability.
What you'll need
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in welding processes (GTAW, GMAW, EBW, LBW, brazing).
- Ability to review, audit, and approve welding procedures (WPS, PQR, WPQ) for code compliance.
- Hands-on expertise welding aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel.
- Working knowledge of metallurgy, material testing, and heat treatment, plus weld defect characterization.
- Proficiency in MS Excel for reporting and basic data analysis.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and weld symbols.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- Nice-to-have: Internship or project experience in semiconductor manufacturing or precision welding.
- Nice-to-have: Exposure to wafer fabrication, packaging, or reliability engineering.
