SW Development Engineer 2

Overview

Design and build applications for the Android platform, implementing requirements, maintaining design documents, and ensuring high-quality, well-tested software for Dexcom's continuous glucose monitoring products.

What you'll do

• Design and build applications for the Android platform.
• Implement requirements on Android apps and write and update design documents.
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to strengthen development efficiency.
• Interface with software test to ensure a high-quality product.
• Develop automated unit and integration tests.
• Participate in design, code, and test reviews.
• Propose and implement enhancements to the apps to improve sustainability.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of native Android app development experience using Kotlin.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience overall.
• Expert-level Kotlin skills, with strong Coroutines and asynchronous programming experience.
• Strong foundation in Data Structures and Algorithms.
• Deep understanding of Android architecture and design patterns (MVVM / MVI / MVP).
• Experience with REST API integration using Retrofit.
• Proven track record building and maintaining large-scale, multi-module Android applications.
• High degree of diligence in documentation, testing, and coding, with a strong focus on test reliability and eliminating flaky tests.
• Experience writing automated tests using Espresso and Mockito.
• Experience working in Agile teams and using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Experience using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, or GitHub Actions.
• Experience with version control tools such as Git, GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket, along with GitFlow.

Nice to have

• Experience with Jetpack libraries (Compose custom UI components and performance optimization, Navigation).
• Experience with Java.
• Experience with Dependency Injection (Hilt / Dagger, with Koin a plus).
• Experience with data encryption and security fundamentals.
