Overview
The Systems Developer provides L2 technical support and engineering ownership for business-critical automation solutions built using Microsoft Power Platform and RPA technologies. The role investigates complex failures, implements fixes, supports application and infrastructure changes, improves automation reliability and maintainability, contributes to enhancements and new development, and provides technical guidance to Associate Systems Developers.
What you'll do
- Provide L2 technical support for production automation solutions and own issues escalated from L1 through diagnosis, remediation, validation and closure.
- Provide dependable L2 ownership for the automation estate, reducing escalations into senior development resources while improving automation stability, recoverability and support readiness.
- Analyze automation code, logs, exception handling, integrations, data and dependent application behavior to determine root cause.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production defects and implement permanent fixes for recurring automation failures.
- Assess the impact of application patches, upgrades, migrations, infrastructure changes and configuration changes across the automation portfolio.
- Plan and support regression testing for impacted automations and provide technical support during BAT/UAT, deployment and hypercare.
- Design, develop and enhance Power Automate workflows and Power Apps solutions; use Power Automate Desktop.
- Develop and consume REST APIs, integrations and custom connectors and work with Dataverse, SharePoint, SQL and other enterprise data sources.
- Implement robust exception handling, logging, monitoring and recovery mechanisms to improve production supportability.
- Create and maintain PDDs, SDDs, Runbooks, troubleshooting guides and technical support documentation.
- Review new or changed automations for operational readiness before transition into production support.
- Conduct knowledge transfer and mentor Associate Systems Developers in troubleshooting, testing and technical practices.
- Analyze incident trends and recommend preventive actions, stabilization work, monitoring improvements or redesign where appropriate.
- Coordinate with business, application, platform and infrastructure teams to resolve cross-system issues and communicate technical status.
What you'll need
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Automate / Power Platform and experience developing Power Apps solutions.
- Experience with SharePoint, Dataverse and SQL.
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging and root-cause-analysis capability in production environments.
- Experience with REST APIs, integrations, authentication and data troubleshooting.
- Understanding of application dependencies, incident/change management and production deployment practices.
- Ability to assess downstream impacts of application or infrastructure changes and define appropriate regression coverage.
- Strong communication, documentation and stakeholder-management skills with the ability to independently own technical issues.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 3-4 years of relevant experience in automation development, RPA, application support or software engineering.
Nice to have
- Power Automate Desktop experience is desirable.
- Experience with ServiceNow or another enterprise incident/change management platform is desirable.
