Overview
Prepare and review US tax returns and filings for real estate funds, holding entities, property partnerships, REITs and corporate blockers, while completing tax planning, research and compliance activities.
What you'll do
- Prepare complex tax returns and review simple tax returns for real estate funds, holding entities and property partnerships using Form 1065.
- Prepare REIT tax returns using Form 1120-REIT.
- Prepare corporate blocker tax returns using Form 1120.
- Prepare state and local tax returns, composite filings and withholding filings for real estate clients.
- Prepare quarterly and annual REIT testing compliance.
- Meet client, internal and statutory deadlines.
- Complete tax planning and research regarding specific tax issues.
- Understand tax regulations and accounting pronouncements.
- Remain up to date on current tax practices and changes in tax law.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce, Accounting or a related field, including B.Com, BBA, M.Com or MBA.
- Minimum 2 year experience in the US taxation domain.
Nice to have
- Enrolled Agent or Certified Public Accountant.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to meet client service, quality and performance expectations within applicable deadlines and in accordance with firm and client standards.
- Ability to communicate clearly, professionally and effectively with firm personnel and clients in person, by telephone, and through electronic or written means in English.
- Effective project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy and quality of work in a fast-paced, client-service environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment and, as required by the role, at client sites, including the ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer and other standard office equipment.
- Ability to maintain consistent onsite presence during core business hours, regularly report to a firm office location and travel to client sites as required, including access to reliable transportation.
- Ability to work extended and/or non-standard hours during peak periods or as necessary to meet client, project or firm business needs.
