Technical Program Manager, RL Research

Overview

Technical Program Manager for the reinforcement learning (RL) research team, owning systems and programs that determine how fast RL research can move into production.

What you'll do

• Provide a regular readout of ground-truth RL research, including performance vs baselines, experiment results, health, and incidents.
• Partner with RL org leads to prioritize, rank, and track experiment state.
• Drive research reviews end to end by setting the agenda, ensuring context is prepared, and closing the loop on decisions.
• Create processes and frameworks to structure research work without slowing researchers down.
• Collaborate with research leads, infrastructure engineers, and data operations to identify blockers and make technical trade-offs.

What you'll need

• Background in ML engineering or ML research before transitioning to technical program management.
• Hands-on experience with ML training pipelines, RLHF systems, and large-scale data infrastructure in production.
• Ability to debug data pipelines.
• Ability to read RL transcripts to spot issues.
• Track record of building execution plans and high-leverage processes that reduce operational overhead.
• Ability to influence senior technical staff with clarity, competence, and consistent delivery.

Details

• Work mode: location-based hybrid policy; staff expected to be in one of the offices at least 25% of the time.
• Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/training/experience mix.
