Overview
Trainer for HIM Services focused on developing and delivering structured medical coding training and learning programs.
What you'll do
- Analyze learning requirements to identify training opportunities and competency gaps.
- Design, develop, and deliver learning solutions to improve coding knowledge, accuracy, productivity, and compliance.
- Create training frameworks, instructional materials, reference guides, and educational resources.
- Facilitate interactive training sessions using adult learning principles and varied techniques.
- Review and update training content to stay aligned with client specifications, regulatory requirements, and coding guidelines.
- Measure training outcomes via assessments, audits, performance tracking, and learner feedback.
- Coach and mentor learners and support competency development.
What you'll need
- At least 2–3 years of experience in a medical coding training role.
- Demonstrated ability to develop coding professionals.
- Comprehensive understanding of HIM principles and medical coding practices.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
- Experience facilitating onboarding for entry-level coders and certification-focused training.
- Expertise in EM, outpatient (OP), and inpatient (IP) coding specialties.
- Active AAPC or AHIMA certification is required.
Details
- Requires working at a computer terminal for 6–8 hours a day.
