Overview

Build macroeconomic models of transformative AI and scenario-based forecasting tools that quantify economic trajectories.

What you'll do

• Develop macroeconomic models covering growth, labor markets, and income distribution under transformative AI.
• Create and maintain scenario-based forecasting tools and publish forecasts for GDP, productivity, and unemployment.
• Constrain macro projections using microeconomic data from the Anthropic Economic Index.
• Study income distribution and economic governance under transformative-AI scenarios.
• Contribute to AI-powered research tools for economics.
• Contribute to Economic Index Reports and publish Research Briefs as first-order questions arise.

What you'll need

• PhD in Economics, or be an exceptional candidate close to completion.
• Background in macroeconomics, growth theory, or public finance (ideally with labor economics exposure).
• Research record engaging seriously with the possibility of transformative AI.
• Experience in macroeconomic modeling, structural estimation, and scenario-based/time-series forecasting.
• Technical skills such as proficiency in Python or Julia for computational economics.
• Ability to lead research projects from conception to publication.

Details

• Hybrid policy: expected to be in an office at least 25% of the time.
