WOW - Principal Engineer, VP

Overview

Join Rbs as a Principal Engineer at vice president level, designing and engineering software with customer or user experience as the primary objective. The role contributes to the engineering centre of excellence and improves the bank’s overall software engineering capability.

What you'll do

• Create customer outcomes through engineering, innovative solutions to existing and new challenges, and technology designs that are innovative, customer centric, high performance, secure and robust.
• Define, create and provide oversight and governance of engineering and design solutions focused on end-to-end automation, simplification, resilience, security, performance, scalability and reusability.
• Define and develop architecture models and roadmaps for application and software components to meet business and technical requirements.
• Drive common usability across products and domains.
• Work with various feature teams to produce software rapidly and with high quality that adds value to the business.
• Determine the design and delivery approach for all platform software throughout its life.
• Work within a platform or feature team with software engineers to design and engineer complex software, scripts and tools for delivering bank platforms, applications and services.
• Act as a point of contact for solution design considerations.

What you'll need

• Significant experience in software engineering, software or database design and architecture.
• Experience developing software within a DevOps and Agile framework.
• Significant and demonstrable experience implementing programming best practice, especially around scalability, automation, virtualisation, optimisation, availability and performance.
• 12-15 years of Java, J2EE technologies and microservice architecture.
• AWS expertise with hands-on experience.
