Principal Engineer (AWS, AI, Knowledge Management), VP

Overview

As a Principal Engineer at vice president level, you’ll design and engineer software with customer or user experience as the primary objective. You’ll contribute to the engineering centre of excellence and collaborate to improve the bank’s overall software engineering capability.

What you'll do

• Create customer outcomes through engineering, innovative solutions to existing and new challenges, and technology designs that are innovative, customer centric, high performance, secure and robust.
• Define, create and provide oversight and governance of engineering and design solutions focused on end-to-end automation, simplification, resilience, security, performance, scalability and reusability.
• Define and develop architecture models and roadmaps for application and software components to meet business and technical requirements.
• Drive common usability across products and domains.
• Work with feature teams to produce software rapidly and to a high quality that adds value to the business.
• Determine the design and delivery approach for all platform software throughout its life.
• Work within a platform or feature team with software engineers to design and engineer complex software, scripts and tools for delivering bank platforms, applications and services.
• Act as a point of contact for solution design considerations.

What you'll need

• Significant experience in software engineering, software or database design and architecture.
• Experience developing software within a DevOps and Agile framework.
• Significant and demonstrable experience implementing programming best practice, especially around scalability, automation, virtualisation, optimisation, availability and performance.
• Experience with AWS and AI solutions, preferably chatbots and knowledge management, with 12+ years of experience.
• Delivery experience, along with team and people management.
• Background in software development on Java and the microservices stack.
