Overview
Field Engineer supporting AEGIS SPY-1 Radar Transmitter and MK 99 Fire Control Systems for U.S. Navy, AEGIS Fleet, and Foreign Military Sales customers. The role is remote-designated but primarily involves onsite field service and extensive travel.
What you'll do
- Install, integrate, test, operate, maintain, align, troubleshoot, and repair AEGIS radar and fire control systems.
- Travel to CONUS and OCONUS naval shipyards and customer sites.
- Support temporary at-sea assignments aboard U.S. Navy ships.
- Analyze equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Perform ORDALTs, CINs, wiring modifications, and mechanical hardware modifications.
- Prepare equipment discrepancy reports and recommended solutions.
- Train Navy technicians and maintain preventive maintenance records.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced related degree with 0 years of experience.
- At least 6 years of experience working with the AEGIS Weapon System.
- Completion of Aegis “C” School for SPY-1 Transmitter or FCS Transmitters.
- Active and transferable Secret security clearance and U.S. citizenship.
- Basic electronics and electricity training, including RF, digital, and analog principles.
- Experience interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing electronics, radar systems, test equipment, and cooling systems.
Nice to have
- Residence within 50 miles of Norfolk.
- Experience with ORTS, shipyards, dry docks, or overseas assignments.
- Technical writing, communication, wire wrap, soldering, and connector maintenance skills.
- Electronics Technician Certification or equivalent military or technical credential.
