AI/ML Data Scientist

Overview

Develop and evaluate AI/ML and advanced analytics solutions for Coast Guard mission and business operations, from rapid prototypes through enterprise-scale implementation.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, test, and evaluate AI/ML solutions and machine learning models.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling, data mining, and advanced analytics.
• Assess data readiness, clean datasets, and support data pipelines, ETL processes, and integrations.
• Develop dashboards, visualizations, analytical models, and decision-support products.
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities with automation and enterprise workflow platforms.
• Support AI governance, cybersecurity, responsible AI, model documentation, and security reviews.
• Participate in Agile planning, demonstrations, stakeholder briefings, and user feedback sessions.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, or related disciplines.
• Bachelor's degree with 8–12 years of relevant experience, or master's degree with 6–10 years of relevant experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, Scikit-Learn, and TensorFlow and/or PyTorch.
• Experience developing, evaluating, and deploying machine learning models.
• Experience with generative AI, large language models, and retrieval-augmented generation.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting DHS, USCG, DoD, or other Federal agencies.
• Experience with agentic AI, embeddings, vector databases, or AI orchestration frameworks.
• Experience with ServiceNow, Power Platform, Appian, Salesforce, or similar workflow environments.
• Relevant AI/ML, cloud, or data science certifications.

• Remote/teleworker position in the United States.
• Pay range: $107,900–$195,050 per year.
