Application Support Engineer

Overview

Support and maintain IBM AIX environments across production, development, and test systems. Investigate complex incidents, optimize system performance, and help maintain availability of critical business applications.

What you'll do

• Administer IBM AIX, LPARs, VIOS, and PowerHA environments.
• Install, patch, upgrade, and harden AIX operating systems and related software.
• Monitor performance and implement system tuning measures.
• Manage backups, restores, disaster recovery, capacity, and resource allocation.
• Troubleshoot incidents, service requests, and performance issues with cross-functional teams.
• Automate operational tasks using shell scripting or other tools.
• Provide on-call and 24x7 production support as required.

What you'll need

• Minimum 5 years of AIX system administration experience.
• 10+ years of hands-on AIX administration experience in large enterprise environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 15 years of full-time education.
• Strong knowledge of AIX 7.x or later, VIOS, and PowerVM.
• Experience with PowerHA clustering, disaster recovery, and NIM.
• Strong Korn or Bash shell scripting and automation skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with TSM, NetBackup, or equivalent backup solutions.
• Experience with AIX on IBM Power9 or Power10 hardware.
• Knowledge of Linux or other UNIX variants.
• Exposure to cloud or hybrid infrastructure integrations.
• IBM Certified System Administrator – AIX certification.
• Experience leading technical projects or initiatives.
