Application Support Engineer

Overview

Application Support Engineer acting as a software detective to investigate and resolve issues across multiple components of critical business systems, with a focus on network infrastructure and firewall support.

What you'll do

• Perform independently and become an SME.
• Implement and manage Cisco ASA Firewall deployments, upgrades, and configurations across versions 8.x and 9.x.
• Perform detailed assessment and research of proposed network changes prior to implementation to ensure minimal risk and business impact.
• Design, test, and validate new network and firewall configurations in lab environments before production deployment.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to plan, schedule, and execute network change activities in alignment with project timelines.
• Lead end-to-end firewall migration projects, including planning, implementation, validation, and post-migration support.
• Develop and maintain security implementation documentation, technical designs, and network diagrams for all projects.
• Conduct research on emerging technologies, network designs, and security solutions to address current and future enterprise networking challenges.
• Work closely with customers, stakeholders, and project managers to deliver projects within agreed timelines and meet business requirements.
• Ensure adherence to security best practices, change management processes, and organizational standards during implementation activities.
• Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support for complex network and firewall-related issues during project execution and operational phases.
• Participate in design reviews and recommend infrastructure improvements to enhance network security, performance, and scalability.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of firewall solutions within enterprise network environments.
• Provide technical assistance to the customer security team and Network Tier 3 team on open security requests and incidents.
• Develop run books for enterprise security support.
• Develop communication maps.
• Train Tier 2 and Tier 3 on the process.

What you'll need

• Must have skill: Palo Alto Networks Firewalls.
• Minimum 2 years of experience required.
• Proficiency in network infrastructures.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience with Cisco ASA Firewall deployments, upgrades, and configurations across versions 8.x and 9.x.
• 15 years full-time education required.
• Must be ready for 24x7 support.

Nice to have

• CCNP or CCIE Security certification.
• ITIL certification.
• AWS associate certification.
• Good team player.
