Associate Engineer

Overview

As a Design Engineer within the Dealer Growth and Retail Solutions team, you will design and develop diesel and gas generator systems and subsystems. The role contributes to Caterpillar generator products for various markets through mechanical design, analysis, development and technical support.

What you'll do

• Design and develop base frames, enclosures, air intake, exhaust, fuel systems, control panels and circuit breaker panels for diesel and gas generator products.
• Perform design calculations, structural analysis and mechanical component selection to meet product functional design requirements.
• Create CAD models and drawings for systems, subsystems, assemblies and components using Creo.
• Apply good drawing practice, including geometric tolerancing.
• Use knowledge of manufacturing processes to deliver solutions that meet DFA and DFM.
• Provide technical support to quality and purchasing during part development.
• Work with the business unit, subject matter experts, project leads, electrical engineers and mechanical engineers to deliver projects on time.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with design and development of mechanical components.
• Working knowledge of 3D CAD software, specifically Creo.
• Working knowledge of PLM software, specifically Teamcenter.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams and with suppliers.

• Communicate technical information effectively with all stakeholders.
