What you'll do
- Demonstrate application of basic engineering tools and principles, with creative thinking (PCB stack-up design, Bill of Materials, component placement for ease of routing).
- Prepare layouts, detailed drawings and schematics using computer-assisted engineering design software and ECAD tools.
- Plan, execute and close assigned activities.
- Confer with manufacturing, product teams, PCB fab vendors and suppliers to develop designs and resolve Design for Manufacturing, Design for Testing and Design for Assembly issues.
- Plan, organize and lead smaller projects.
- Ensure all PCB design and review processes are understood and followed in every design.
- Prioritize effectively and act with speed and focus.
- Identify competencies and personnel needed to complete tasks.
- Perform typically as an individual contributor within a team.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the PCB design process, design cycle time and DPMO, and contribute to process improvements.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to define acceptable quality levels based on IPC standards, and continuously manage stakeholder expectations.
- Consistently achieve results, even under adverse circumstances such as minor changes in schematics and/or placement. For major scope changes, communicate schedule impact effectively and openly.
- Make and keep commitments to deliverable release dates, holding self and others accountable.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Electronics and Communication, or Electrical Engineering.
- Total relevant work experience: 2-3 years.
- Hands-on experience in Altium (Must) / Allegro (Capture, PCB editor) / CADSTAR / PADS or equivalent layout and capture tool.
- Sound knowledge of electrical and electronic components, surface mount and through hole.
- Hands-on experience creating footprints; sound knowledge of IPC standards such as IPC-2221A, IPC-SM-782 and IPC-7351, plus UL and MIL standards.
- PCB library management; prepare schematics and perform layout design.
- Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Nice to have
- Awareness of CIS / CIP database, thermal management and enclosure designs.
- Experience with PCB manufacturing process (Design for Manufacturing, assembly and testing) and validation of Gerbers using CAM350.
- Good knowledge of PCB design guidelines for EMI/EMC aspects; some exposure to hardware testing.
- Hands-on experience with high-speed board designs and Signal Integrity and Power Integrity analysis using Ansys or equivalent tool.
- Automotive domain knowledge for high-power layout designs.
