Associate General Counsel, Privacy

Overview

Serve as a senior privacy and data protection legal advisor across Coinbase’s global operations, supporting product development, regulatory strategy, and data governance.

What you'll do

• Own and scale the global privacy program with Privacy Operations.
• Lead privacy initiatives covering data governance, tooling, and data subject rights.
• Advise Product and Commercial Counsel on privacy-by-design practices.
• Coordinate responses to privacy incidents, regulatory inquiries, and law enforcement demands.
• Engage with government agencies, privacy regulators, and data protection authorities.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of experience as a practicing attorney.
• 5+ years of substantive privacy experience, including in-house technology or financial services experience.
• JD or international equivalent and qualification as a lawyer in the UK, Ireland, or an EU jurisdiction.
• Deep expertise in EU and international privacy and data protection law.
• Experience leading complex, cross-functional privacy programs.
• Experience drafting and negotiating privacy policies, data protection agreements, and vendor security terms.

• Target annual base salary: £167,960–£176,800 GBP.
