Automation Tester

Overview

Design, develop and execute testing strategies to validate functionality, performance and user experience, and drive automation and test processes across the SDLC for Barclays digital solutions.

What you'll do

• Develop and implement comprehensive test plans and strategies to validate software functionality and ensure compliance with established quality standards.
• Create and execute automated test scripts using testing frameworks and tools to enable early detection of defects and quality issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyse requirements, participate in design discussions, and contribute to acceptance criteria.
• Perform root cause analysis for identified defects, working closely with developers to provide detailed information and support defect resolution.
• Collaborate with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities.
• Lead a team performing complex tasks, set objectives and coach employees in pursuit of those objectives.

What you'll need

• Have developed a test automation framework from the ground up using Selenium, Java, Cucumber or equivalent technology.
• Ability to implement test DevOps CI/CD pipeline.
• Demonstrate automation able to reduce overall lead time.
• Strong experience in agile test processes, test planning, execution, and delivery.
• Knowledge of test management tools such as JIRA, Agile Central or HP ALM.
• Ability to get into detail and troubleshoot issues and look for resolution.
• Drive all test phases of the SDLC, such as ST, SIT, E2E and UAT.
• Good knowledge of working on cloud platforms.
• Exposure to AI adoption capability.

Nice to have

• Strong expertise in test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar).
• Experience in API testing and automation (REST/SOAP using tools like Postman, RestAssured, Karate).
• Proficiency in programming languages (Java, or similar for automation scripting).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools (Jenkins, GitLab, Maven, Docker).
• Ability to leverage AI for test optimization, data analysis, etc.
• Strong understanding of software testing principles, SDLC, and Agile methodologies.
• Strong functional and E2E test understanding.
