Backend Engineer, AI (Agent Systems)

Overview

Own the inference and orchestration layer powering AI interactions. Build and operate production backend systems that deliver fast, stable, and observable APIs across client applications.

What you'll do

• Build and operate backend systems for AI-powered production features.
• Design inference pipelines and orchestration layers around models.
• Define service boundaries around AI models.
• Monitor, log, alert on, and respond to production incidents.
• Optimize latency and throughput across inference, caching, batching, and streaming.
• Debug distributed systems under load.

What you'll need

• Strong backend engineering fundamentals in production environments.
• Experience running high-throughput, low-latency services.
• Familiarity with AI inference patterns, including LLMs, embeddings, and multimodal systems.
• Comfort debugging distributed systems under load.
• Experience with Python.
• Experience with Node.js, PyTorch, SQL, NoSQL, Kubernetes, or Docker.
