C++, C Developer

Overview

Valtech is seeking a C++, C Developer to oversee the architecture, low-level design and full-lifecycle development of C++ solutions, while mentoring developers and contributing to engineering excellence.

What you'll do

• Drive the technical roadmap by overseeing the architecture, low-level design, and full-lifecycle development of sophisticated C++ solutions.
• Maintain engineering excellence by establishing coding standards, driving rigorous code reviews, and championing engineering best practices (TDD, CI/CD, automation).
• Diagnose system bottlenecks, debug complex low-level threading issues, and optimize application memory and runtime performance.
• Act as a technical mentor to mid-level and junior C++ developers, fostering continuous skill development.
• Collaborate with product owners, QA, DevOps, and senior leadership to align engineering outcomes with broader business goals.
• Help scope sprints, mitigate technical risks, and ensure predictable, high-quality software releases.

What you'll need

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Exceptional proficiency in Modern C++ (C++14, C++17, or C++20) alongside deep knowledge of standard library containers and algorithms.
• Strong grasp of Object-Oriented Design (OOD), design patterns, memory management, multi-threading, and Inter-Process Communication (IPC).
• Extensive experience developing and debugging in Linux/Unix or Windows environments using tools like CMake, GCC/Clang, or Visual Studio.
• Proven track record working within Agile / Scrum development workflows.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a highly technical related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with low-level network programming, sockets, or specific hardware/embedded protocols.
• Familiarity with package managers like Conan or vcpkg.
• Knowledge of integrating C++ modules with high-level languages (Python, Node.js).
• Prior domain exposure to [Insert industry specific requirements, e.g., Telecom, FinTech, Automotive Infotainment, Medical Devices].
• Experienced in Agile methodologies and consulting.
