Overview
The Compressor Service Engineer performs troubleshooting, maintenance, overhauling, testing, and commissioning of HVAC compressors, including screw, centrifugal, and magnetic bearing compressors, to support equipment reliability, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and quality and safety standards.
What you'll do
- Establish and lead an HVAC Compressor Overhaul & Service Center for Screw, Centrifugal, and Magnetic Bearing Compressors.
- Develop overhaul processes, troubleshooting expertise, tools and test facilities, technical documentation, spare part management, and customer support.
- Perform complete dismantling, inspection, overhauling, and assembly of Oil Flooded Screw Compressors.
- Perform complete dismantling, inspection, overhauling, and assembly of Centrifugal Compressors.
- Perform complete dismantling, inspection, overhauling, and assembly of Magnetic Bearing Oil-Free Compressors.
- Inspect rotors, impellers, diffusers, bearings, shafts, couplings, seals, and motor components.
- Measure critical dimensions and clearances using precision instruments.
- Prepare inspection reports with recommendations for component repair or replacement.
- Execute compressor rebuilding as per OEM standards.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot magnetic bearing systems.
- Understand the operation of Active Magnetic Bearings (AMB), Variable Speed Drives (VSD), Position Sensors, and Magnetic Bearing Controller Systems.
- Perform health checks and analysis of magnetic bearing compressor data logs.
- Support commissioning and fault diagnosis of oil-free centrifugal chillers.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for bearing failures, rotor damage, surge conditions, high vibration, motor failures, refrigerant leakage, and oil contamination.
- Analyze vibration spectra and performance parameters.
- Develop corrective and preventive action plans.
- Perform precision assembly of compressor rotating components.
- Verify rotor runout and clearances.
- Perform alignment and balancing activities.
- Witness and perform leak tests, hydro tests, pneumatic tests, mechanical run tests, and performance tests.
- Support commissioning and startup of chillers and compressor packages.
- Attend customer sites during planned shutdowns and emergency breakdowns.
- Execute annual maintenance contracts (AMC) and preventive maintenance activities.
- Prepare service reports and customer recommendations.
- Provide technical guidance to service technicians and customers.
What you'll need
- Diploma, B.E., or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 7 ~9 years hands-on experience in HVAC compressor overhaul.
