Overview
The Connected Lab Junior Analyst supports the deployment, configuration, integration and continuous improvement of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and laboratory data management solutions across bp's R&D laboratories, with a particular focus on enabling Day 1 operations for the Bengaluru Technology Centre. The role collaborates with laboratory users, digital teams, data specialists, suppliers and project teams to improve laboratory efficiency, compliance, data quality and digital enablement.
What you'll do
- Facilitate requirements gathering through workshops, interviews, process mapping and stakeholder engagement.
- Engage with scientists, laboratory personnel and subject matter experts to understand laboratory workflows, sample management processes, data requirements and operational challenges.
- Support the definition of project scope, objectives, requirements and success criteria for LIMS and data management initiatives.
- Document business, process, functional, integration and reporting requirements using agreed standards and methodologies.
- Develop and maintain current-state and future-state process maps covering laboratory operations and supporting digital workflows.
- Analyse information to identify opportunities for standardisation, digitisation, process simplification and operational efficiency.
- Maintain traceability of requirements, actions, risks, assumptions and decisions throughout project delivery.
- Support the Connected Lab Specialist and wider project team by coordinating requirements, actions and delivery activities across multiple workstreams.
- Support the deployment, configuration and continuous improvement of LIMS and laboratory data management solutions.
- Work with the Lab Automation Specialist and Automation workstream to deploy LIMS, robotics, orchestration platforms, equipment integrations and laboratory processes as a connected end-to-end solution.
- Collaborate with Data Management specialists, Digital Security, Digital Delivery, system integrators and vendors to support integrated laboratory workflows and data flows.
- Participate in system configuration, testing, user acceptance testing, deployment and operational handover activities.
- Support user training, adoption and change management activities.
- Assist with testing and validation of data interfaces and workflows to ensure information is transferred accurately and reliably between systems.
- Support identification and development of AI, analytics and reporting use cases through improved access to structured laboratory data.
- Contribute to laboratory data management approaches, standards and best practices across Downstream R&D.
- Support data governance, taxonomy and master data management activities to improve data quality, integrity, traceability and compliance.
- Work with scientists, Digital Science teams and business stakeholders to understand laboratory and scientific data challenges.
- Support integration between LIMS, laboratory instruments, automation platforms, ELN, ERP and other enterprise systems.
- Contribute to reporting, analytics and data improvement initiatives supporting digital laboratory transformation and AI readiness.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree as a minimum in science, engineering or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in laboratory operations, laboratory informatics, business analysis, digital transformation or data management environments.
- Experience gathering, documenting and handling business and user requirements.
- Experience supporting technology deployment, process improvement or digital transformation projects.
- Strong analytical, process mapping and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary stakeholders and facilitating discussions across technical and business teams.
- Understanding of data quality, data governance and master data concepts.
- Experience working with scientific, laboratory or enterprise data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), ELN, SDMS or other laboratory informatics platforms.
- Understanding of laboratory workflows, sample lifecycle management, testing processes and scientific data management.
- Knowledge of laboratory automation, robotics, equipment integration or orchestration platforms.
- Experience supporting software implementation, testing, validation or deployment activities.
- Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall or hybrid project delivery approaches.
- Experience working with technology suppliers, vendors or system integrators.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and metadata management.
- Experience with Power BI, SQL, Python or other data analysis tools.
- Experience supporting AI, analytics or digital transformation initiatives through structured data management.

- Location: Bengaluru Technology Centre, Bangalore, India.
- This position is a hybrid of office/remote working.
- The role is advertised as full time.
- Occasional domestic and international travel to bp sites and supplier facilities may be required.
- Up to 10% travel should be expected with this role.
- The role is eligible for relocation within country.
