Consultant - Financial Institutions & Counterparty Risk

Overview

Independently manage the portfolio hygiene of an assigned credit exposure portfolio covering countries, banks/broker dealers and hedge funds, acting as subject matter expert and trusted advisor on assigned countries.

What you'll do

• Independently manage the portfolio hygiene of an assigned portfolio of credit exposure risk for a group of Country, Banks/Broker Dealers and Hedge Funds.
• Perform analysis of counterparties and countries annually or on an ad-hoc basis, and assign Probability of Default ratings.
• Evaluate an institution's creditworthiness and track market developments and stability.
• Prepare written credit memos and make presentations to credit committees.
• Monitor trends and serve as the SME and trusted advisor on assigned countries to partners.
• Manage relationships with local business units, inform them of credit issues, and provide guidance for the development of strategies.
• Contribute to the development of risk monitoring products, processes and models related to counterparties and countries.

What you'll need

• 6 - 8 years of banking or other financial/credit analysis related experience.
• Bachelors or Masters in Business Management or Finance.
• Extensive knowledge of Bank and Broker dealer analysis.
• Working knowledge of Country risk.
• Familiarity with rating models and other credit frameworks.
• Excellent communication, verbal, leadership and strategic skills.
• Advanced analytical and writing skills, and some quantitative skills.
• Strong relationship and presentation skills, with the ability to develop relationships at all levels of the organization.
• Highly flexible and adaptable to change; ability to multi-task on several assignments at once, and crisis management skills.

Nice to have

• CFA or FRM certification.
• Experience in counterparty and/or country analysis, in a buy-side or counterparty risk function.
