Overview
Data Analyst - Indirect Tax supports StockX’s indirect tax compliance, reporting, and audit readiness by analyzing transaction-level tax data and reconciling system variances.
What you'll do
- Analyze transaction-level tax data and investigate variances and system exceptions.
- Support indirect tax compliance and reporting with data reconciliations and validation of transaction and filing data.
- Monitor, review, and manage indirect tax exemption certificates across North America.
- Organize and validate filing data, review filing work papers, and identify unusual changes or exceptions.
- Coordinate tax payment support by preparing payment details and confirming amounts to supporting documents.
- Maintain tax records, monitor tax email accounts, and triage items as needed.
- Check taxing authority online portals for notices, account messages, confirmations, balances, and required actions.
What you'll need
- 4+ years of experience in tax data analysis, finance operations, tax system implementation, or a similar analytical role.
- Ability to work with large datasets and reconcile data across multiple systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and highly organized; able to manage multiple reconciliations, notices, deadlines, and follow-ups.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, including corresponding with taxing authorities.
- Proven ability to document findings and communicate issues to tax, finance, and IT stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Experience with U.S. sales and use tax, indirect tax, VAT/GST, Avalara, or similar tax technology platforms.
- Familiarity with SQL and reporting/data tools such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Python, Databricks.
- Experience working with Data Engineering or Product teams is a plus.
