Overview
Data Center Engineer role in Mumbai focused on hands-on physical work across servers, network infrastructure, and IT components in multiple colocation facilities.
What you'll do
- Oversee the lifecycle of physical servers, network devices, and other IT infrastructure.
- Install, configure, and maintain server and network components across data centers.
- Plan rack layouts, cabling schemes, and patching schedules to optimize operations.
- Diagnose hardware issues and coordinate vendor repairs/replacements via RMA.
- Handle shipments, maintain hardware inventory, and manage stock levels for IT components.
- Develop and maintain documentation for physical infrastructure, cabling, and rack configurations.
- Maintain office IT infrastructure, including hardware and network systems.
What you'll need
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in data center engineering.
- Strong understanding and basic troubleshooting of server hardware, network devices, and data storage systems.
- Knowledge of network cabling, fiber optics, and optical transceivers.
- Experience with fiber/optic testing.
- Basic knowledge of Linux operating systems and networking protocols.
- Ability to work flexible hours outside regular business hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Valid driver’s license required for travel between facilities.
