Overview

Data Scientist (Analytics) to support eBay Live’s real-time livestream shopping experience through product analytics and experimentation.

What you'll do

• Own product analytics across the eBay Live buyer journey (discovery, viewing, engagement, bidding, purchasing, retention).
• Define success metrics, KPIs, and guardrails with Product and Engineering for new features and experiences.
• Design, analyze, and interpret A/B tests and controlled experiments with statistical rigor.
• Use causal inference and quasi-experimental methods when A/B testing is not feasible.
• Perform deep-dive analyses using funnels, cohorts, segmentation, and behavioral analysis to find improvement opportunities.
• Build scalable dashboards, measurement frameworks, and self-service analytics for product decision-making.
• Improve instrumentation, event tracking, and data quality with engineering teams.

What you'll need

• 4–8 years of experience in data science, product analytics, or related analytics roles.
• Strong proficiency in SQL.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Hands-on experience with product analytics and A/B testing.
• Solid understanding of statistics, experimental design, hypothesis testing, and causal measurement.
• Experience analyzing large-scale behavioral, transactional, or event-level data.
• Strong communication to translate complex analysis into clear product recommendations.
