Database Administrator

Overview

Database Administrator for Pico’s Platform Engineering team, focused on Microsoft SQL Server administration and related ecosystem management.

What you'll do

• Deploy database platforms in a repeatable manner using scripting and automation.
• Manage, maintain, administer, troubleshoot, install, and configure database systems.
• Maintain database security and implement database security best practices.
• Optimize database performance, including SQL/TSQL query and procedure tuning.
• Provide monitoring criteria, requirements, and solutions within Pico’s monitoring framework.
• Support database certification, upgrading, and patching.
• Automate operational tasks and generate custom automated reports.

What you'll need

• Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server (2025, 2022, 2019).
• Knowledge of Geo-clustering, AlwaysOn Availability, Replication, and CDC.
• Must-have Microsoft Windows Server management skills.
• Competency with PowerShell.
• Experience with database encryption.
• Ability to design optimized queries and write TSQL.
• Ability to model database objects.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of MongoDB, MySQL (InnoDB a plus), or PostgreSQL.
• Linux experience (installation, support, troubleshooting, and monitoring).
• Preferred DevOps skills including configuration, monitoring, patching, and scripting tools.
• Optional DevOps skills including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Scripting with Python, Bash, or Ansible.

• Location: Pune.
• Working arrangements: based out of Singapore/India; travel may be required occasionally.
• Weekend work: scheduled weekend work is included.
