Job description
Overview
Database Engineer II responsible for developing, maintaining, and scaling database solutions for performance, availability, and security.
What you'll do
- Design and implement schemas, stored procedures, and indexing strategies.
- Tune performance, optimize queries, and diagnose system bottlenecks.
- Monitor database health, backups, and failover procedures.
- Automate maintenance and data-processing tasks with SQL and scripting tools.
- Collaborate with development, DevOps, and product teams on database design.
- Support incident response and root-cause analysis for database issues.
What you'll need
- 4–6 years of database engineering or administration experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python or Bash scripting, and data-management tools.
- Experience with performance tuning, monitoring, and recovery strategies.
- Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across engineering and infrastructure teams.
