Overview
Database Platform Engineer to own the full database layer for a cloud-native product company.
What you'll do
- Own database design and migration scripts across Dev, QA, and Production on Azure SQL Managed Instance.
- Design and evolve schemas, stored procedures, views, functions, and complex queries.
- Perform query performance tuning using execution plans, index strategy, statistics, and blocking analysis.
- Provide on-call database support and incident response.
- Run database CI/CD pipeline using DACPAC or migration-based deployments integrated with Azure DevOps.
- Implement database security including TDE, RBAC, row-level security, auditing, and access control.
- Conduct backup, restore, and disaster recovery validation and monitor via Azure Monitor/SQL Insights.
What you'll need
- 8 to 12 years of hands-on SQL Server experience.
- Deep expertise in Azure SQL Managed Instance or Azure SQL Database.
- Advanced T-SQL skills for complex queries, stored procedures, views, triggers, and dynamic SQL.
- Query tuning using execution plans, index design, statistics, and wait stats analysis.
- Database DevOps experience using DACPAC, Flyway, or equivalent migration tooling in CI/CD.
- Strong high availability knowledge including Always On, failover groups, and geo-replication.
- Experience working with .NET teams using ADO.NET or Entity Framework.
Nice to have
- Azure Database Administrator Associate certification.
- Experience with Azure SQL pricing tiers and cost optimization.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric or Azure Synapse for analytical workloads.
- Experience with row-level security for multi-tenant SaaS products.

- Hybrid work model with a minimum of 3 days per week from the Chennai office.
