Developer Advocate - Service Management

Overview

Developer Advocate focused on service management, using engineering expertise and storytelling to drive advocacy and build external-facing technical content and demos for Datadog.

What you'll do

• Act as a subject matter expert for service management across incident response and operational automation.
• Create content in multiple mediums (demos, public speaking, blogging, documentation, webinars, open source, research reports).
• Partner with product engineering teams to build compelling demos and coach internal teams on communication.
• Interface with open source communities to drive key messaging and develop new integrations.
• Contribute to the product via feedback (bugs and enhancement suggestions), documentation, or code.

What you'll need

• Approximately 5+ years of experience as a Platform Engineer, SRE, DevOps Engineer, or Software Developer.
• Hands-on experience as an on-call/incident responder and running production systems in complex IT environments.
• Strong understanding of service-management practices including incident response, on-call, post-incident reviews, and SLOs.
• Experience using tools such as Datadog, PagerDuty, Opsgenie, incident.io, Rootly, Jira Cloud Platform, and/or Cortex.
• Approximately 2+ years of experience creating storytelling and compelling content (written content, speaking, workshops, videos, open source, community events).
• Comfort with at least one scripting/programming language (Node.js, Python, Go, or bash) and familiarity with APIs and modern infrastructure (IaaS and containers).
• Publicly available writing samples, blog posts, demos, or recordings of technical presentations.

Nice to have

• Hands-on ITSM platform experience (ServiceNow or Jira Service Management).
• Active membership in SRE, DevOps, or incident-response communities.
