Director, Engineering & Business Systems

Overview

Director overseeing Business Systems & Platform Engineering, leading technical architecture, engineering practices, and administration for core business systems and data platform capabilities.

What you'll do

• Lead the systems and engineering org through a shift toward platform and data engineering.
• Own the technical architecture, design, and delivery roadmap for business systems, enterprise data, and integrations.
• Manage and grow systems and engineering managers and direct reports, including technical mentorship and career pathing.
• Establish and codify standards, style guides, workflows, and engineering/systems practices into an operating model.
• Partner with Product, Success, and Program Management to prioritize and deliver the BADaS roadmap.
• Review architecture proposals, approve technical designs, and own technical builds with vendor/partner counterparts.
• Own security, RBAC, and data-governance posture of BADaS platforms from an audit and access-control risk perspective.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of experience in software, platform, or data engineering.
• 4+ years managing engineers and engineering managers.
• Comfort operating in an ambiguous transformation-in-progress environment.
• Ownership experience across team-based technical architecture and engineering practices (e.g., repo management, CI/CD, code review, tests/regression).
• Experience managing a technically mixed org including engineers, data engineers, and platform/systems administrators.
• Fluency in event-based/service-oriented architectures using server-side JavaScript/TypeScript/Node.js in a primarily serverless AWS environment.
• Deep experience with REST/GraphQL API architectures and authorization strategies including OAUTH and JWT.

Nice to have

• Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) and building autonomous AI agents.
• Track record managing vendors and implementation partners on complex platform builds.
