Director, Software Engineering

Overview

Lead multiple software engineering teams delivering secure, reliable, and scalable payment-network capabilities. The role combines people leadership, technology direction, delivery accountability, and cross-functional partnership.

What you'll do

• Lead and develop multiple engineering teams, including managers and senior technical leaders.
• Set engineering direction aligned with product, architecture, resiliency, security, and operational objectives.
• Own delivery outcomes across a portfolio of services.
• Build an accountable engineering culture through hiring, coaching, succession planning, and career development.
• Partner with product, architecture, operations, security, and dependent programs.
• Establish standards for quality, automation, release readiness, reliability, and continuous improvement.
• Communicate portfolio status, risks, trade-offs, and decisions to senior leadership.

What you'll need

• Experience leading managers and multiple software engineering teams.
• Experience with large-scale, highly available platforms.
• Working knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, cloud-native delivery, CI/CD, and observability.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments and across the software development lifecycle.
• Experience leading complex technology solutions from concept through production adoption.
• People-management experience covering performance management, conflict resolution, coaching, and career development planning.

Nice to have

• Payments or financial-services domain knowledge.
