Director, Software Engineering - Big Data Platform & Storage

Overview

Lead two engineering teams responsible for Salesforce’s large-scale Big Data storage platforms and services across public cloud and company data centres. Own technical direction, team development, delivery, operational excellence, and service reliability.

What you'll do

• Define and execute team vision for AI, customer success, feature delivery, service ownership, availability, and scalability.
• Lead engineers building reliable, scalable, and secure big data services.
• Drive execution with architects, product owners, engineers, and cross-functional teams.
• Improve CI/CD and code quality through engineering practices and tooling.
• Automate operational work including runbooks, monitoring, and alerting.
• Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop engineers and technical leads.
• Shape product vision and support service SLOs and SLAs.

What you'll need

• 12+ years of relevant software development experience.
• 3+ years of experience managing teams.
• B.E. or B.Tech in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
• Experience with distributed systems, NoSQL datastores, or big data processing.
• Experience operating large-scale services on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with big data technologies including HBase, Hadoop, Kafka, MongoDB, Spark, Presto, Hive, or Airflow.
• Experience recruiting teams and providing technical leadership and mentorship.
