Director, Software Engineering (14+ years, Scala, Spark, Data Pipeline, GenAI) Spark

Overview

Lead software engineering teams delivering secure, scalable fintech applications and platforms. Oversee software delivery while guiding architecture, DevSecOps, AI/ML integration, and engineering talent development.

What you'll do

• Lead teams through backlog refinement, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• Oversee requirements gathering, project planning, releases, estimation, and capacity across multiple teams.
• Lead architecture discussions and own design decisions for complex products.
• Drive agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, code quality, and security practices.
• Guide responsible integration of Generative AI and Agentic AI coding with data governance and compliance.
• Resolve major incidents and establish monitoring, analysis, and prevention practices.
• Coach engineers and develop technical talent across teams.

What you'll need

• At least 10 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree.
• At least 7 years of work experience with an advanced degree, or 4 years with a PhD.
• At least 13 years of relevant work experience as an alternative qualification path.
• Experience leading software engineering teams in fintech, payments, or banking technologies.
• Experience with system design, architecture, agile delivery, and DevSecOps practices.
• Experience with enterprise-scale applications, web services, testing automation, and incident response.
• Experience in talent management, coaching, and engineering development.

Nice to have

• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree.
• 8–10 years of experience with an advanced degree or 6+ years with a PhD.
• Experience with container-based technologies.

Details

• Location: Bengaluru, India.
• Work arrangement: At least 3 days in the office.
• Hands-on coding, code reviews, and technical prototyping may take up to 50–65% of the role.
