Overview
Distinguished Engineer role focused on defining and driving the long-term technical vision, architecture, and evolution of SonicWall’s Secure Private Access (SPA) platform and Zero Trust access technologies.
What you'll do
- Define and drive the long-term technical vision and architecture strategy for SPA and Zero Trust access technologies.
- Lead design and evolution of scalable, secure, resilient cloud-native distributed systems.
- Influence architectural decisions and engineering standards across multiple product and engineering organizations.
- Provide technical leadership during production incidents, customer escalations, and security events, including root cause analysis.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to engineering and executive leadership.
- Mentor Principal Engineers and cultivate technical leadership across the organization.
What you'll need
- 15–18+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership in large-scale infrastructure, networking, or security platforms.
- Hands-on contributions to complex distributed systems and cloud-scale services.
- Deep expertise in networking and traffic processing (data plane architectures, TCP/IP, DNS, WireGuard, Layer 3/4/7 enforcement strategies).
- Strong programming experience in Go, C++, Rust, or similar systems languages.
- Deep understanding of networking and security fundamentals, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and identity systems.
- Experience across one or more domains such as SPA, ZTNA, SSE, SASE, VPN/secure connectivity, and enterprise access security.
