Overview
The Electrical Engineer will perform power system consulting studies, design and review electrical systems, troubleshoot electrical issues, support customers, and provide technical recommendations, reports, presentations, workshops, and software training.
What you'll do
- Perform power system studies such as load flow, short circuit, motor start, transient stability, relay coordination, arc flash, harmonic analysis, electromagnetic interference, electromagnetic switching transient and insulation coordination studies, traction simulation studies, renewable studies and many more using ETAP, PSCAD, CDEGS, PLSCAD, and ETRAX software.
- Design and review electrical systems, including power distribution systems, industrial control systems, and renewable energy systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical tripping, site incidents, failures and other issues, and provide technical support to customers and clients.
- Provide solutions and recommendations for power system design, operation, and optimization based on study results.
- Resolve technical queries raised by customers and clients on project reports and provide accurate and timely information.
- Prepare reports and presentations and conduct workshops based on project requirements, delivering them to customers and clients professionally.
- Provide training to ETAP customers on how to use the software effectively and efficiently.
What you'll need
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering or a related field from a recognized university or institution.
- Minimum 2 - 4 years of working experience in a similar industry or equivalent.
- Proficiency in fundamental principles of electrical engineering and knowledge of electrical products and their workings.
- Strong academic knowledge or working-level knowledge of electrical power system studies such as load flow, short circuit, motor start, transient stability, relay co-ordination, arc flash, harmonic analysis, electromagnetic interference, and electromagnetic switching transient.
- Academic knowledge of FACT devices such as SVC, STATCOM, and active filters, and of on-grid interconnected battery and energy storage systems, grid-integrated renewable generation, grid-connected inverters, and inverter dynamics.
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills related to creating reports and presentations in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
- Good communication and report writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of the team.
Nice to have
- Exposure to ETAP, PSCAD, CDEGS, or other similar software.
- Knowledge of Python, MATLAB coding, or similar.
- Experience in the design and implementation of renewable energy systems.
