Overview
Lead cost productivity and value creation programs for electronic components across GE HealthCare's product portfolio, identifying and qualifying alternate components while managing lifecycle and supply risk.
What you'll do
- Partner with Engineering, Product Sourcing, and Commodity Sourcing teams to identify and implement electronic component cost reduction and value creation opportunities across multiple product modalities.
- Independently lead cost productivity and Value Creation Programs (VCP) by identifying high-cost electronic components, evaluating alternatives, and driving implementation with cross-functional teams.
- Identify and recommend technically suitable Form, Fit, and Function (FFF) alternate components to reduce costs, mitigate supply risks, and address sole-source dependencies.
- Review electronic component datasheets, technical specifications, and application requirements to assess component suitability and support engineering qualification activities.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering teams to evaluate and qualify alternate electronic components for installed base products and New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
- Support Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) redesign and component optimization initiatives to reduce Bill of Materials (BOM) costs while maintaining product quality, performance, and reliability.
- Evaluate electronic component lifecycle risks, including obsolescence and supply availability, and develop mitigation strategies through alternate sourcing and technology adoption.
- Perform component cost analysis and assess supplier manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising technical requirements or quality.
- Support the introduction of new electronic component technologies and identify opportunities to improve product cost, availability, and long-term sustainability.
- Manage component engineering projects from opportunity identification through technical evaluation, qualification, and implementation, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Track project milestones, productivity opportunities, cost savings, and implementation progress while communicating updates to Engineering, Sourcing, and business stakeholders.
- Apply technical expertise, analytical thinking, and sound engineering judgment to independently resolve component-related challenges and drive measurable business outcomes.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in electronic component engineering, electronics product development, or a closely related engineering function.
- Strong technical knowledge of electronic components, their characteristics, applications, and selection criteria.
- Demonstrated experience identifying, evaluating, and recommending alternate electronic components based on technical compatibility, cost, and availability.
- Experience driving electronic component cost reduction, productivity, or value creation initiatives.
- Ability to interpret electronic component datasheets, specifications, and technical requirements to support component evaluation and qualification.
- Strong project or program management skills, with demonstrated ability to independently manage cross-functional engineering initiatives from identification through implementation.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs or introducing new electronic component technologies.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering, Product Sourcing, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and deliver results with minimal supervision.
