Engineer - Ecodesign

Overview

Engineer - Ecodesign role focused on life cycle assessment (LCA), environmental product declarations (EPD), and eco-design compliance for Eaton’s electrical products.

What you'll do

• Independently execute LCA studies per ISO 14040 & 14044 and support verification to publish type-III EPDs.
• Implement LCA/EPD using LCA acceleration tools to improve cycle time.
• Support product engineering teams to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the product lifecycle.
• Develop eco-design tools and implement them during new product introduction (NPI).
• Deploy Product Stewardship work packages for EPR, ecodesign, and chemical-related compliance (REACH, RoHS, TSCA, CP65, ODS, POP).
• Evaluate eco-design regulatory compliance (e.g., EU-ErP Directive) and report on progress.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemical/Mechanical/Electronics/Electrical engineering.
• Bachelor’s with 3–6 years’ experience or Master’s with 2–4 years’ progressive experience in sustainability/product/technology development.
• Experience conducting LCA per ISO 14040/44/25 and creating EPDs using Product Operator PCR and PSR.
• Hands-on LCA/EPD standards knowledge and ability to execute using tools like EIME (preferably), SimaPro, Sphera/GaBi, OpenLCA, or similar.
• Ability to define goal & scope, work with product teams to get LCI data, and perform sensitivity/scenario analysis.
• Experience supporting/leading projects with multiple stakeholders plus strong project management.
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and familiarity with digital tools like Excel Macros, Python, and PowerBI/Power Automate.
