Engineer - Firmware Linux Development

Engineer (Firmware Linux Development) for Life Safety products, focused on embedded firmware development for edge devices using Linux.

What you'll do

• Design and implement high-performance Linux-based firmware for Life Safety products.
• Define structured software solutions that meet technical requirements and optimize performance, security, and reusability.
• Translate business features into technical requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, engineering, and test to deliver high-quality products.
• Develop and execute plans for incremental and interactive project delivery.
• Author high-quality unit-tested code and enable software re-use.
• Work with the test team to ensure appropriate test coverage with defined quality metrics.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
• 3+ years of hands-on expertise in C and C++ for Linux-based firmware applications on microcontrollers.
• Experience with Linux (drivers, kernel) and API-based frameworks/SDKs.
• Knowledge of industrial Ethernet and/or device-level fieldbus technologies (examples listed).
• Experience with industrial fieldbus communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, and Webserver.
• Experience addressing cyber-security requirements and fixing issues from static code analysis tools.
• Experience developing application firmware for user interfaces and writing unit tests.
