Overview
Engineering Manager-Salesforce responsible for building and managing high-performing Salesforce engineering teams, driving Agile delivery, defining technical direction, managing integrations, and ensuring scalable, high-quality engineering deliverables.
What you'll do
- Build and take ownership of the Salesforce engineering team and drive excellence.
- Brainstorm ways to improve training, processes, and hiring.
- Participate in coaching, personal development, performance management, and career growth for team members.
- Set clear expectations and goals and create opportunities for team members to showcase their work.
- Facilitate team-building activities.
- Build an in-depth understanding of the code owned by the team.
- Encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration.
- Identify and address recurring issues in development cycles and improve development speed.
- Ensure code quality and best practices.
- Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical designs.
- Provide high-level technical recommendations, approaches, and feedback.
- Create and maintain project timelines.
- Identify dependencies between systems and facilitate communication between cross-functional teams.
- Drive feature execution and delivery with multifunctional teams, architects, product owners, and engineers.
- Conduct risk assessments throughout project lifecycles and provide stakeholders with progress updates.
- Resolve cross-team coordination issues that may impact progress.
- Manage expectations and negotiate scope changes.
- Facilitate decision-making when trade-offs are necessary.
- Ensure smooth handoff between development and QA and plan software releases.
- Identify repetitive tasks that can be automated.
- Encourage development of internal tools to boost productivity.
- Allocate time for refactoring and system improvements.
- Encourage experimentation with new tools or methodologies.
What you'll need
- 12+ years of overall experience in engineering.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience working in Salesforce.
- Proven experience developing Salesforce solutions with a deep understanding of Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components, and Salesforce APIs.
- Experience in Salesforce CPQ, Sales, Manufacturing, Service, and Data Cloud.
- Experience designing and implementing custom solutions aligned with business needs.
- Strong knowledge of Salesforce data modeling, reporting, and database design.
- Experience playing the role of an Architect.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining integrations between Salesforce and external applications.
- 3+ years of leading software engineering teams in an Agile environment.
- Experience hiring, mentoring, and leading engineers.
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related experience required.
- Strong knowledge of Salesforce product and platform features, capabilities, and best use of it.
- Ability to quickly grasp and distinctly explain technological and business concepts.
- Experience in CI/CD.
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies and practices.
- Prior experience leading teams in an Agile environment.
- Strong oral and written communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to set priorities and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem-solving.
- Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and product management to understand requirements and describe software product features and technical designs.
Nice to have
- Advanced degree preferred.
- A good understanding of enterprise architecture principles is strongly preferred.
- Active Salesforce Certifications are desirable, preferably Development Lifecycle & Deployment Architect and Application Architect.
- Experience in Mulesoft is a plus.
