Equipment Engineer - HVDC System Design

Overview

Equipment Engineer for HVDC system design with technical ownership of main circuit equipment across the project lifecycle.

What you'll do

• Take technical ownership of assigned main circuit equipment throughout the project lifecycle.
• Define equipment requirements and develop/review technical specifications.
• Evaluate supplier designs, deviations, calculations, and technical proposals.
• Lead supplier technical discussions and resolve engineering issues.
• Review and approve design documentation, test plans/reports, and qualification evidence.
• Support type testing, routine testing, factory acceptance testing, and site technical activities.
• Identify technical risks and ensure mitigation actions; support standardization and design optimization.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, High Voltage Engineering, or related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in high-voltage electrical equipment, switchgear, HVDC, or power transmission projects.
• Hands-on experience with main circuit equipment including AC/DC circuit breakers, disconnectors/earthing switches, high-speed switches, converter reactors, surge arresters, and (current/voltage) transformers.
• Good knowledge of IEC and relevant international standards, especially IEC 62271 series and applicable HVDC standards.
• Ability to review electrical schematics, technical specifications, datasheets, type-test reports, and design calculations.
• Ability to understand short-circuit phenomena, TRV/recovery voltage, TRV-related topics, and insulation coordination concepts.
• Willingness to travel internationally for supplier visits, testing, workshops, and project activities.
