Field Service Engineer I (SDB/SEM) RTP

Overview

Field Service Engineer I for electron microscopy equipment at Thermo Fisher Scientific, supporting installation, maintenance, diagnosis, repair, training, and field reporting with significant customer-site travel.

What you'll do

• Conduct on-site installation of sophisticated microscopy equipment and follow testing procedures.
• Perform on-site scheduled planned maintenance visits.
• Provide diagnosis and repair support for customers and field personnel.
• Travel to customer sites, often on short notice, to resolve problems or support other engineers.
• Complete and submit field service reports.
• Train customers and users on system maintenance.
• Provide feedback to product quality teams and update/correct system documentation.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree OR 2+ years equivalent education and experience in electronic systems.
• 1+ years of hands-on technical experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating analysis tools such as SEM/TEM/FIB.
• Ability to diagnose and repair ultra-high vacuum (UHV) and high voltage systems.
• Ability to deal effectively with customers and professional working proficiency in English.
• Ability to fix sophisticated systems/subsystems down to the component level.
• Literacy in MS DOS and Windows software environments.

Details

• Work schedule: Mon-Fri.
• Territory: Research Triangle Park (RTP); preference for candidates based in Raleigh, NC within one hour of a major airport.
• Travel requirement: up to 75%.
• Physical requirement: ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Requires PPE and access to/working with hazardous/toxic materials.
