Overview
Provide field service support for analytical and laboratory instrumentation, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, qualification, and preventive maintenance. This entry-level role combines hands-on technical work, customer interaction, and technical development.
What you'll do
- Install, repair, calibrate, update, and qualify analytical and laboratory instruments.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, vacuum, software, and networking issues.
- Respond to customer service requests and communicate repair updates.
- Document service activities, parts usage, and customer interactions.
- Support customer training on instrument operation and maintenance.
- Assist senior engineers with complex installations and escalations.
- Travel to customer laboratories, research facilities, manufacturing sites, and universities.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field.
- Basic knowledge of electronics, mechanics, vacuum systems, and computer troubleshooting.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office, and basic networking concepts.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to travel 50–75% within the assigned territory.
Nice to have
- Internship, co-op, military technical training, or laboratory instrumentation experience.
- Experience with analytical instrumentation, laboratory equipment, or scientific environments.
- Familiarity with high-voltage electronics, vacuum systems, spectroscopy, chromatography, microscopy, or imaging systems.
- Additional language proficiency.
- Location near Frederick, Maryland.
Details
- Remote, Maryland, United States.
- Standard Monday–Friday schedule with frequent travel and occasional emergency coverage.
- Hourly pay of $31.73–$47.60.
